Minister of Youth & Family - Full Time Position

We are a 1300 member Lutheran church located in Fishers, Indiana.  Fishers is an established suburb of Indianapolis that has been rated by The Learning Channel as the #1 out of the top 10 places to raise a family in the United States for the years 2009-2011.  Additionally, Fishers was selected my Money Magazine as #8 of the top 100 places to live in America for 2010. Fishers is a family-oriented, vibrant city with excellent schools, parks and recreational opportunities.

 

CTS is currently accepting applications for a full time Minister of Youth & Family.  We are looking for an energetic, knowledgeable, compassionate disciple of Christ who has a passion for shepherding youth into a closer relationship with Christ and those in Christian community.  CTS is a unique Lutheran church in that we offer both a traditional Liturgical service and a Contemporary worship service every Sunday. The congregation is committed to reaching people to know, love and serve Christ.  The selected applicant will benefit from a supportive and well established adult leader group who are committed to walking alongside the youth minster as the program grows.

 

JOB SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Minister of Youth & Family will lead, shepherd, and grow student ministries for youth - grade 5 through college age - within the overall mission of the church to know, love, and serve Christ.  The Minister of Youth & Family will lead by weaving relationship building, mentoring and spiritual instruction into all activities offered for youth: including worship, ministry, mission, fellowship, retreats and outreach activities.  The selected candidate will be expected to cast a clear vision, lead and mentor others, train both youth and adult leaders to develop ministry programs and activities as well as collaborate with the Youth Parent Advisory team. 

The Minister of Youth & Family will work in partnership with both Pastors as well as the Director of Children's Ministry to provide a comprehensive plan for spiritual growth from cradle to college age using Orange strategies. 

 The Minister of Youth & Family has oversight responsibility for 5th grade through college age ministries:

** Sunday school for 5th & 6th grade (partners with Director of Children’s Ministry)

** Roots - 5th & 6th grade (partners with adult leaders)

** Crosstrainers - 7th & 8th graders (partners with adult leaders)

** Oasis - high school age (partners with adult leaders)

** Revolve - college age

This individual has primary supervisory responsibilities for a part-time Youth Ministry Assistant and for adult volunteers serving in Youth ministry.  

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Undergraduate Degree from an accredited college or university.

EXPERIENCE:
At least three years of youth ministry experience in a healthy, vibrant context (100+ participating)

Familiar with Orange Strategy

Understanding of basic Lutheran theology and strong desire to teach this theology

PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS & ABILITIES:

Spiritually maturing, servant-minded individual with the ability to shepherd others

Energetic, initiative-taking, leader with the ability to connect well with youth and adults

Problem solving, patience, teaching, sense of humor, empathy, energy

Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form

Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks

Ability to manage conflict

REQUIRED PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES:
Able to engage in outdoor games, mission work, overnight retreats, and other physically demanding tasks involved with set-up and leadership of events.
