From Pastor Libby
I am excited about the spiritual growth opportunities that are provided to you through the ministry of Christ the Savior Lutheran Church. It is my hope that through the Maturity Steeple, we are not just creating “busy people who are doing nice things,” but instead we are creating disciples who are moving closer to Christ and growing in intimacy with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. That is my prayer for you and for me everyday that I enter our building, and that is the reason for this booklet explaining Pathways to Spiritual Growth at Christ the Savior 2009-10.
Read through the booklet, find where you are, and take the next step of growth for you.
The basic pathway is:
- The call “to be” a child of God and live in that awareness.
- The call “to become” which is a gradual process that happens over time
- The call to cultivate inner solitude, prayer, and meditation practices as part of the practice of “becoming”.
- The call “to do”—to do or lead ministries that the Lord wants to bring about through you.
The Lord has called many many teachers to Christ the Savior who faithfully give of their time, and their energy, and their gifts, so that you might have a variety of ways to more fully awaken to and be drawn into closer intimacy with Christ. Please join me in thanking these faithful teachers in our congregation, write them notes of encouragement and appreciation, and be praying for them, as they give of their time and talents this year in the name of Jesus and His love.
