Colossians 3:16 “Let Christ's word with all its wisdom and richness live in you. Use psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to teach and instruct yourselves about God's kindness. Sing to God in your hearts.”
Christ the Savior’s Music ministry gives our team and congregants the opportunity to enhance worship through musical selections that supports the overall message and theme of the service, as well as bring us into the presence and Spirit of God. There are a variety of ways to be involved in this exciting ministry!
Traditional Worship
For this service, music is drawn from styles that have been handed down from age to age to styles of today. Hymns, liturgy, psalms, ancient tunes, and ideas are utilized in new and fresh ways to enhance our time together on Sunday morning.
- Sanctuary Choir – a weekly choir that meets either Sunday morning after 1st service or Wednesday evenings to prepare anthems and other selections for use in our first service. May be used special times of year at both services. Sings at Good Friday and Christmas Eve services.
- Surprise Choir – Second Sunday of every month, this meets the morning of and sings a special selection for the choir of the day. It allows those who enjoy singing to “surprise” us with their presence and to allow the opportunity to sing in the choir with no commitment. The choir song for will be announced and rehearsed at 7:45 am in the Music Room and then sang at the 8:30 am worship that same day. No registration needed.
- Sonshine Choir – an elementary to early intermediate choir that sings throughout the year, especially at Back to School Sunday, Nativity service, and Palm Sunday. Rehearsals vary.
- Sonview Orchestra – instrumentalists 7th grade and up meet on the second Sunday of every month to prepare music for special services such as Back to School Sunday, All Saints Day, Christmas Eve late service, Palm Sunday, Good Friday, Easter, etc.
- Prelude, Postlude, Communion, and other opportunities – musicians who do not wish to be part of a group, but would like to share their musical gifts may be used during specific times during a service, or for special services.
